Join Plainfield YMCA  in a community clean-up and clothing drive event.

Spend an hour cleaning up the community and then spend an hour giving back to the community through a clothing donation drive!

Somerset Hills YMCA:

Join Somerset Hills YMCA in service of the youth with Bonnie Brae, a community non-profit in Liberty Corner. They serve between 90 to 114 boys at their main campus and 21 young men are in community-based transitional living homes in New Brunswick, Bound Brook, and Bridgewater. Bonnie Brae provides a safe place for youth to heal, to learn, and to grow. Nearly all boys and girls who come to Bonnie Brae have suffered abuse, trauma, or neglect. Many have significant addiction, mental health, learning, and behavior challenges.

On January 15th, no-sew lap blankets and bedding supply disbursement bags will be made.

]]> REDEFINE YOUR HEALTH TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE
If you’re at risk for type 2 diabetes, you can make small, measurable changes that can reduce your risk and help you live a happier, healthier life. Change is tough – we can help.

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program gives you the skills you need and the support you deserve to make lasting, healthy lifestyle changes:
  • Led by a trained Lifestyle Coach, participants will meet for 25 sessions delivered over the course of one year.
  • The goals of the program are to reduce your body weight by 7% and increase physical activity by 150 minutes per week.

DO YOU QUALIFY?

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a one-year, community-based, lifestyle intervention program for overweight adults who are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

To participate, you must be:
  • 18 years or older,
  • Overweight (BMI ≥ 25)*, and
  • Diagnosed with prediabetes via one of three blood tests or a previous diagnosis of gestational diabetes.**
If you don’t have a blood test result, you must have a qualifying risk score. Take this quick test offered by the CDC to learn yours.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • The 12-month YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program costs $429 per person and includes:
    • 26 one-hour sessions delivered over the course of a year
    • Weekly and biweekly sessions during the first 6 months followed by monthly sessions during the second 6 months to help maintain progress and stay motivated
    • A lifestyle coach for 12 months of education and support
    • Progress reports to your primary care physician
  • The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is available to ALL individuals who qualify, regardless of their insurance status.
  • A Y membership is not required for participation in this program.
  • Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

The session starts on Tuesday, March 19th, at 6 pm!
