Greater Somerset County YMCA Deepens Community Support Through Partnership with The Uncommon Thread

BASKING RIDGE, NJ – This Autism Awareness Month, Greater Somerset County YMCA (GSCY) is proud to reintroduce and celebrate its growing partnership with The Uncommon Thread (TUT) – a collaboration rooted in ensuring that all children have the opportunity to thrive in welcoming, supportive environments.

For generations, the Y has remained committed to helping children and families access programs that foster growth, connection, and confidence. This partnership with The Uncommon Thread strengthens that commitment, offering enhanced services for children with autism and their families across local communities.

Together, GSCY and TUT are working to expand access to support and services for children with autism at Somerset Hills and Hillsborough YMCAs. Through this collaborative effort, children can participate in YMCA toddler and preschool programs while also receiving individualized ABA therapy from The Uncommon Thread’s expert team – creating engaging experiences designed to meet each child’s unique needs.

“At the YMCA, we are committed to helping all youth develop values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and academic success,” said David M. Carcieri, President & CEO, Greater Somerset County YMCA. “Our partnership with The Uncommon Thread strengthens that commitment.”

Gabriella St. Fleur, Senior Director of Youth Development at Somerset Hills YMCA, adds, “This partnership with The Uncommon Thread is a tremendous opportunity to expand our support for all children, especially those with unique needs.”

How This Partnership Supports Families:

  • Welcoming environments where every child can learn and grow
  • Individualized, medically necessary ABA therapy alongside YMCA programs
  • Compassionate, trained staff providing 1:1 support
  • Fostering understanding across peer groups and families

Greg Carr, Founder and Executive Director of TUT, said, “This partnership with the YMCA is a monumental step forward in our mission to bridge the gap between children with autism and their typically developing peers. This is about more than ABA therapy and services; it’s about creating lasting change and enriching lives.”
